Synhelion receives SDG Innovation Award 2025
Synhelion has been honored with the SDG Innovation Award 2025, recognizing the company’s contribution to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The award underscores the global impact of Synhelion’s technology and its potential to drive meaningful emissions reductions in hard-to-abate sectors.
The SDG Innovation Award honors pioneers whose exemplary and effective contributions help achieve the SDGs and inspire broader societal engagement. It highlights initiatives that demonstrate innovative and scalable solutions, deliver international visibility, contribute to sustainable supply chains, promote clean energy and technology transfer, and support multiple SDGs simultaneously.
Synhelion’s Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Gianluca Ambrosetti, attended the ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of the company. “This recognition reinforces the impact of our technology and the dedication of our highly skilled team,” he stated. “Our mission to defossilize transportation is not only technologically achievable – it is essential for a sustainable future.”
With 280 submissions from nearly 40 countries, the award enjoys a high level of international recognition. Awarded by the Senate of Economy Germany and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the award was presented in a ceremonial setting at the Bavarian State Parliament in Munich, attended by more than 300 distinguished guests from industry, politics, and society.
The selection committee highlighted Synhelion as a powerful example of how innovation supports the transition to a sustainable energy system. Synhelion was recognized for its internationally respected roadmap for the production of renewable fuels and its mission to defossilize the transportation sector. The jury also specially acknowledged Synhelion’s successful production of renewable fuel since 2024 at its Jülich facility in Germany, the fact that the entire energy demand of the production process is covered 100% by renewable energy, and the next steps being taken to significantly scale up production volumes. In addition, Synhelion’s long-term offtake agreements with its customers – ensuring the market uptake of its sustainable fuels – received particular recognition during the award ceremony.
The SDG Innovation Award strengthens our commitment to scaling renewable fuels globally and accelerating the transition toward a net-zero transportation sector. Together with our partners, customers, and dedicated team, Synhelion will continue driving innovation to make sustainable transportation a reality.
What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
The Sustainable Development Goals are 17 global goals adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They provide a shared framework to achieve peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and in the future.
The SDGs call for action to end poverty and hunger, protect the environment, promote health and well-being, ensure quality education, reduce inequality, foster sustainable economic growth, and combat climate change. They recognize that these challenges are interconnected and require coordinated efforts by governments, businesses, and civil society.
Together, the SDGs aim to create a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient world for present and future generations.
