The clean alternative to fossil fuels

Powering a net-zero future with renewable fuels

Our sustainable fuels are synthetic drop-in fuels produced from renewable energy. They are the most economically viable, efficient, scalable, and environmentally friendly solution for clean, long-distance transportation. A cutting-edge technology that offers a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.

Our products

Synhelion produces renewable fuels to defossilize the transportation sector. We produce sustainable jet fuel, diesel, and gasoline that comply with existing international standards. Our fuels are synthetically manufactured to replicate the chemical and physical properties of fossil fuels. They are fully drop-in compatible with today’s global fuel infrastructure, meaning they can be blended with fossil-derived fuels or used in their pure form in existing aircraft, ships, trucks, and cars. This flexibility enables immediate market entry and supports the defossilization of hard-to-abate transportation sectors such as aviation, shipping, and long-haul road transportation.

Why renewable synthetic fuels?

Compatible

Synhelion’s fuels have the same chemical structure as fossil fuels. They are fully compatible with the global fuel infrastructure. There is no need to adapt or refit combustion engines, refineries, fuel distribution, or filling stations.

Affordable

At scale, Synhelion will reach production costs in the range of refined fossil fuels (below EUR 1’000 per ton). This is made possible by a highly efficient production pathway.

Versatile

Jet fuel for planes, gasoline for cars, marine fuel for ships, and diesel for trucks – Synhelion’s technology yields any type of fuel to replace fossil fuels in all application areas.

Scalable

As a fuel producer today, Synhelion follows a clear roadmap to scale its technology, then transitions to an asset-light licensing model for global deployment.

Eco-friendly

The entire life cycle of Synhelion’s fuels is based on environmentally-friendly principles. The fuels are produced with renewable energy and emit not only less CO2 but also less noxious gases than conventional fuels.

Storable

Liquid fuels have a very high energy density. They can be transported and stored for a long time without compromising their quality. A winning combination of two non-negotiables for many fuel-consuming industries.

Independent

Ideal conditions to produce Synhelion’s renewable fuels can be found on any continent. The independence from fossil resources results in greater autonomy. Shorter transportation routes are another key asset.

Circular

Synhelion’s fuels close the carbon cycle as they only release as much CO2 during combustion as was used for their production. They cut net CO2 emissions by up to 100% compared to fossil fuels.

Renewable fuels for the transportation sector

Our focus is on defossilizing those transportation sectors that are difficult to electrify, such as aviation and shipping. In road transportation, electrification plays a key role in reducing CO2 emissions. However, studies show that there will be many remaining internal combustion engine vehicles around the world that will also need to be powered sustainably to meet net-zero emission targets by 2050. As a complementary solution to road electrification, Synhelion’s renewable fuels can help achieve these targets.
