Synhelion mourns the loss of Giorgio Mazzanti
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and strategic advisor Prof. Giorgio Mazzanti. Giorgio passed away peacefully at the age of 95. He had been a valued member of our team since the foundation of Synhelion in 2016 and had played a pivotal role in the creation and development of the company. Our most heartfelt condolences and thoughts go to Giorgio’s family.
Giorgio was an accomplished scientist and engineer, who contributed greatly to the modern world with his research. His legacy includes being the co-inventor of polypropylene, the second most used plastic in the world. As Professor for Industrial Chemistry, he researched for more than 20 years at the Politecnico di Milano. He filed several patents together with Giulio Natta (Nobel Prize laureate) in the field of new polymers. After his time at the Politecnico, Giorgio was Managing Director of the Montedison Group, and Executive Vice President and President of the ENI Group.
Giorgio supported Synhelion from the very beginning, and he was strongly committed to Synhelion’s research to the end. A few months ago, he co-signed his last patent. We will fondly remember Giorgio as an outstanding scientist, a visionary, and a dear friend.
