Synhelion, SWISS, and Lufthansa Group recognized in Condé Nast Traveler’s Bright Ideas

Synhelion, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), and the Lufthansa Group have been recognized in Condé Nast Traveler’s Bright Ideas in Travel List for their innovative technology and strategic partnership that are shaping the future of sustainable aviation.

Bright ideas that move the world forward
Condé Nast Traveler’s Bright Ideas in Travel List recognizes the players, places, and projects that are tackling travel’s most pressing issues with thoughtfulness and zeal. This year, Condé Nast Traveler selected trailblazers who have demonstrated a positive impact on the travel industry in 2024 and have reached a significant milestone in their efforts to prove how travel can move our world forward.

Synhelion was recognized for its groundbreaking advances in renewable fuel production and for its strategic partnership with Lufthansa Group and SWISS, which demonstrates how visionary collaboration can redefine sustainable travel.

A strategic partnership for sustainable aviation
The Lufthansa Group and its subsidiary SWISS have been partners of Synhelion since 2020, and SWISS has been a shareholder of Synhelion since 2022. Our collaboration is based on our shared vision to defossilize aviation with solar fuels. The deep industry expertise and commitment to the sustainable transformation of SWISS and Lufthansa Group provide meaningful support in scaling up and bringing our solar fuels to market. Their confidence and investment underscore the trust the aviation sector has placed in our groundbreaking solar fuel technology.

The DAWN of the solar fuel era
June 2024 marked a pivotal milestone for Synhelion with the inauguration of DAWN, the world’s first industrial-scale solar fuel plant. Only two months later, we reached a crucial achievement in its commissioning phase: the continuous production of synthetic crude oil, or syncrude. This syncrude can be seamlessly refined in existing facilities to create renewable kerosene for aircraft, diesel for ships, and gasoline for cars. This milestone reflects a transformative step toward providing a sustainable, scalable alternative to traditional fossil fuels and is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and ingenuity of Synhelion’s highly skilled team.
